Hi, I am a scientist and I am interested in understanding and predicting how humans influence the biodiversity and nature function.
I see myself as a Naturalist in the Anthopocene, a new geological era where humans dominate Earth's major forces (biodiversity, climate). I combine field observations, with the most advances tools, such as stable isotopes and genetics, to understand how humans are affecting the ecology and the evolution of species.
I am particularly interested in plant-animal interactions. Some animals feed on fruits and disperse seeds. What will happen if we lose tapirs, elephants, monkeys or toucans from the wild? This is what we called "defaunation".
I study fish, reptiles, birds and mammals that eat and disperse fruits. I have been working in tropical forests and savannas of South America.
